In truth the first name to come to mind was my sister-in-law's. She is elegant, eco-conscious, conscientious, vibrant, amusing and witty, and a well known local surgeon.
Her lifestyle is simple, her home designed and built for class and to be eco-friendly. She raises chickens and sells eggs, breeds exquisite dogs, and with staff maintains a garden of amazing beauty. She dresses in only the best because it lasts longer than cheap.
If an emergency call comes in, she dashes to the hospital in her gumboots, a Dior gown and pearls, without thinking. Or, if she has been working in her garden, in dirty old coveralls and clogs. She is blatantly honest but with a delicate touch. Her generosity and kindness are as much part of her as her contagious laughter and wit. She is a legendary hostess because she just sparkles and loves the company of good friends and food.
Because of her work, she is amazingly empathetic to all. When you meet her, one look into her dark eyes and at her warm smile and you know you have met someone who is the real deal. With her, you get what you see, no hold barred. She really cares about everyone and it shows. My brother was a lucky man to find such a wonderful addition to our family.
Thanks for the chance to clarify my thoughts about her, but what does this have to do with philosophy?

I have to write this....that the post by Barbara about her sister-in-law really touched me. What a beautiful person.
I'd say it's my Mom. She is so simple. Simple in looks (she says she rather use no make-up because it's not her), simple in the way she dresses, simple in the materials she chooses, simple in the way she keeps her home, simple in her lifestyle and thoughts. She is such a great host and is always ready to provide space in her home. Her cooking is simple, looks so wholesome, and delicious, with least amount of ingredients or spices, yet it comes out amazing. She is not materialistic. A thousand products come out in the market, yet she is happy with what she has, and wont buy anything new until what she has is finished, or no longer serves the purpose. She strongly believes in God, prays everyday, wakes up when it is still dark, no matter what, to start her day with prayers, is so pure-hearted with no ill-will or malice towards anybody. She is so polite, and such a great listener. Her eyes are gentle and honest. She doesn't gossip ever. She picks up the phone even in the middle of her night to answer calls from her children or from anyone. She is so socially conscious, and wants to do her bit for the community. She works for a faith-based organization is there like a pillar for the people in her community, even if it's at a moment's notice. I am so glad she is my Mom. I wouldn't be even 0.5% of what she is, if I wasn't raised by her. She is the best!!
Thanks for letting me speak bout her.
