Hmmm. You should see the amperage stamped right on the "toggle". Most common in the home are 15 amp, and 20 amp for 120 volt circuits, and 30 amp and 50 amp for 240 volt circuits, and 100 amps or more for the main breaker that shuts everything off. All the values should be stamped right on the toggle. If not, something's wrong with the picture.
It's extremely dangerous to mess around inside a breaker box if you have no electrical experience. Please be careful

The circuit breaker will have the amperage rating stamped on the toggle.
If you are talking about the service entrance amperage, there are three typical ratings.
Very old rating was 80 amps.
Most typical now is 100 amps. This is 100 amps each side of the 220 legs.
For larger places and retail establishments, there is a 200 amp service entrance. Once again this is 200 amps, each side of the 220 entrance.

Are you wanting to know how many amps are being drawn through the circuit while it is in use? If so, turn on all loads on the circuit and place a clamp on amp meter on any one of the 2 legs at the breaker. It will read the total amperage load on the circuit.
If you just want to know what the breaker is rated for, do just like those obove me recommended. Look for the stamped numbers on the toggle switch.

95% of all Breakers have it stamped(the ones that don't are in p reassembled switch gear) or Printed on the throw handle or the face of the breaker right below the handle, if it has faded away you may have to have an Electrician come look at it to make sure of the size.........PLEASE do not listen to the "landlord" If you have a 100 amp service That is what you have!! Not 100amps per leg, Incoming Voltage is 110v Per Leg NOT 220v

Look for the main breaker...it's usually on the top, in the middle...but it will be the biggest one and it shuts off all the power. The amperage should be embossed on the handle of that breaker.
