Our Propane dealer has told us they need to replace two regulators and we are on the list but it seems that we are using quite a bit of over priced propane in the meantime.

The old regulators on the tanks outside are not a problem.

There is a final pressure regulator right on your furnace itself which controls the gas pressure to the furnace. That regulator determines gas flow for a given size of orfices in the furnace.
Id attribute high usage to cold weather and increased $ cost to increase in propane per gallon, which has been substantial over the last couple years.

If the old regulator is not functioning properly, this could be dangerous because the manifold pressure to the appliances could be too high or too low, causing an improper burn that may be high in carbon monoxide output. As far as using too much and cost being high, the appliance is going to burn as you set the manual know too it or as it is preset on its own internal regulator. Take a gas furnace for example and assume your tank regulator that you call old is supplying too much pressure - well the furnace has in internal regulator on the gas valve associated with the equipment and it will burn at the designed pressure.

Conclusion - replace those "old" regulators out of safety concern only. Gas prices have increased and that may be why you think you are using too much.

If it is the propane companies equipment that is faulty and you are are paying a higher price because of it, they must issue you credit in some form. The regulator is not a complex item to replace. If this has gone on for longer than one billing cycle, I suggest you call an attorney. They will NOT charge you an arm and a leg for their information and suggestion on how to proceed with this issue.

in case you recommend it somewhat is a persevering with leak then it somewhat is a defective regulator. Your propane broker can replace it for you, in fact, my propane broker has replaced mine at no value. They pronounced that the regulators might desire to get replaced each and every few years as habitual upkeep. They even painted the tank for me at no value a pair of years in the past. i'm unsure if it somewhat is elementary prepare between propane sellers or in the event that they did that for me considering the fact that i've got been their shopper for in simple terms approximately 40 years. in case you recommend the regulator in simple terms we could off a gasp from the vent from time to time then that's doing that's pastime in relieving the severe stress gasoline from the internal diaphragm. in the adventure that your regulator is over 8-10 years previous then it would be a stable concept to change it besides. call your propane broker and ask them what their coverage is on the subject of who will pay for the replace. stable success to you. 30 yrs hvac exp
