Why is basketball in the olympics when its the only played in the US? I never heard of an Russian basketball player, or a English basketball player. Basketball is a girls sport anyways. Real men play Football not the gay American kind but REAL FOOTBALL. The one where you actually use the foot. Baseball was taken out cause US is the only country that plays it. I never heard of a baseball player who doesnt comes out of the USA.

Because it a sport that is played all around the world. Have you ever heard of Euro league or China league. If you don't believe me check google. American football is real man sport, I would like you to put on some pads and a helmet and try to play.

There's so much that's wrong about your rant that it's hard to know where to start. First off, is your problem with basketball, baseball, or both? Secondly, do you always feel the need to dismiss anything you don't happen to enjoy or be interested in as "gay", and if so, does your preoccupation with that word perhaps reveal something about you that you're not comfortable dealing with? And lastly, although I'm not a baseball fan, there are many top players from Cuba, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Canada, etc. As for basketball, if you think there are no top players from outside of the US, someone must have forgotten to tell you that the last couple Olympic gold medals and world championships were won by teams like Argentina and Spain, if memory serves me right.

Basketball is truly an international sport. The US doesn't even dominate international basketball anymore. Last years dream team with Krzyzewski, Wade, James, and Anthony didn't even take home the gold. WTF? Even America's NBA has more and more foreign players including Russians and former Soviets. Pavel Podkolzine? Victor Khryapa? Sergey Monya? These guys where gobbled up in last years draft. Basketball is extremely popular in Russian. Many kids in the remote villages play this sport more than any other. Russian players do very well in Europe because those teams focus on the team aspects of the sport. Americans tend to focus on the individual aspects.

Russians and former Soviets Bloc players to look for in future NBA drafts: Ivan Chiriaev, Viktor Keirou, Dimitri Sokolov, Anton Dudukin, Dramir Zibirov, Yaroslav Korolev, Maxim Sheleketo, Igor Smygin, Vasily Zavourev, Eduard Lukash, Vladimir Veremeenko, Oleksiy Pecherov, Martynas Andriuskevicius, Alexei Zhukanenko, Roman Gumenyuk, Vilmantas Dilys.

I'll let someone else answer the more ignorant aspect of your post.

Im sorry but that was probably one of the dumbest questions ever! Basketball is the second most widespread and played sport in the world only football(soccer) ranks ahead of it. It is therefore by logic played in most countries, there is a league in england called the BBL and thats only one division of it, youve got the ACB in spain and many more, then you have continental leagues like the euro league. There are quite a few player from england in the league at the moment, such as ben gordan(cant remember what part of england i think its brixton) then micheal olowakandi and luol deng all are british or have british ties, even the MVP steve nash's parent are english. And maybe at one point football (soccer) was a mens sport but now its full of overpaid diving whingebags. Sorry its the truth
