My friend's door lock is frozen because we're having -30 weather. How can we get the door warm enough, or any type of suggestion, so that we can get in it.

If you don't have a torch, hot water, tools or anything else, and nobody's looking try peeing on it!
(Harder to do if you're a woman!)

Use a lighter or match and warm up the key. A hair dryer also works if you have a long cord and are close enough to a outlet. Then go buy some lock deicer and keep it in the house.

I would stay away from the water because it will just refreeze.

matches on the key "blade" and then insert it into the lock for a minute(till all the heat is extracted off the key).
Then remove, and repeat first step. Big trick is being able to hold onto the key to insert it. Tuff man test. After you get it open spray some WD40 inside the lock The WD stands for "water displacement" and water(or humidity) is what freezes.
Not the oil.

They make a spray can of stuff just for frozen locks in areas that get that cold. I feel so sorry for you living where it does get that cold. Wish you were all rich enough to come south for the winter. We would love to have you for a few months each year.

you can buy lock de-icer at an auto parts store, it's a spray. or you can try to heat the key with a lighter that will work sometimes too. when it gets this cold out, avoid washing your car.

use rubbing alcohol... or a liquid that will not freeze at your temp... might have to use a syinge type device to squirt it in the lock... or use of a heated garage... good luck
