I've never been in choir and I don't play a musical instrument and I can't read notes at all. Basically, I have no musical knowledge.

Be honest. How am I? My friends make me sing for teachers, and my teachers want me to go on Idol. But I don't believe them. I think I'm lousy and not good enough for idol at all. I need like a million voice lessons.

How am I?

your voice is a diamond in the rough. for not having any training in the music area you're pretty good.

i wouldn't jump to idol though, b/c like the person before me said, you'll get eaten my simon.

I suggest lessons too. Your voice quality and it's potential is amazing. Take a few lessons to strengthen your voice, get rid of the shakiness, and to broden your range with your high notes - then go on idol.

Don't worry about learning to read music notes. After all, Fantasia Borreno couldn't even read.

So yes, if everyone wants you to try out for idol, do it in a FEW years. Don't do it this coming year because your voice isn't ready yet. After some lessons, it definately will be.

You have talent girl. Don't waste it.

You have a soulful voice, and with lessons, you could go into Jazz, Blue Grass, and with time Rock. I'm pretty sure you can sing pop already because it isn't that hard.

But yes. Definately get the voice lessons. Choir will only help you with your breathing techniques b/c when you're in choir, you sing in a group and not solo like you would on Idol.

Try to get into learning the basic notes on the piano and try matching them with your voice. This will help a lot with your pitch problem, which can be easily fixed.

Good Job. I anticipate you'll be making more videos in the future on Youtube so I can listen and see how much you improved.

Keep up the good work! You got talent.

It's been a couple years since I was in the school chorus, but let me see if I remember a little something about it...

You seemed to be doing an attempt at "soulful" singing, which most of the highschool girls trying out for solos did; a few of them nailed it, but the majority just sounded forced and silly. You fall into the latter category (in my opinion, anyway, others on here may differ).

Your highnotes were a little squeaky and flat from what I could hear (couldn't turn up the volume too loud, people are watching tv right beside me), it's possible they were out of your current range. Voice lessons can help with that, up to a point, since I do remember that with daily practices at school I went from being able to sing only the lower alto range to being able to sing the lower and middle...true highnotes forever eluded me.

I do, however, think there might be something there. I wouldn't suggest you go out for Idol (partly because Simon would rip you to shreds, and partly because I hate that show), but if you REALLY want to, then get yourself a good voice coach who can offer their PROFESSIONAL opinion on whether you're any good or not, and see what you can do about finding your own natural style of singing, rather than done to death dramatics.

I don't know what Simon would say, but go for it. (Though I would suggest being able to read music.) You should learn that. I mean, why not give Idol a try?

You aren't bad, but you need to gain more control over your voice, it's like it's in charge of you and not the other way around.

Yeah- you are really good. You should work on your high notes, but that might just be fuzzy because of the connection. But otherwise, wow, you're awesome.

You have a pleasant voice but you had pitch problems. With some training and more practice you could be very good. :-)
