You could be, then again she could just be inconsiderate. I used to avoid relationships because every time it came down to it I felt smothered. When you find someone you love, you won't feel smothered, I don't feel like my boyfriend now smothers me and we talk everday, all day, most of the days. I never want to get off the phone but life isn't fair. I mean we text, we do a lot of things and I don't feel smothered. The right person won't smother you and you won't feel smothered. Talk to your girlfriend before you make any assumptions. Good luck hon!

Yeah you probably are. The best thing to do is to just ask her. Somtimes a woman will you give mixed messages so this is what I would do:: Limit the calls to one a day until she calls you back. Also, if you text her and she doesn't respond, don't keep texting. This doesn't only smother us (women) but it sends the message that you are desperate and u have security issues. Women love confident men. Hope this works!!!!

She will tell you so or act like she needs space and time away from you... This is how you will know. You may be smothering her back off just a little and see if this changes anything. Also ask her if she feels you are smothering or overbearing and see what she says back to you. Communication is key here. How will you know unless you ask and she tells you?

I might lean toward the smothering side of things here. Perhaps just try checking in only once a day, or better yet, ask her if you have been smothering, and respect her wishes. She'll think better of you for it.

When you kiss her or touch her does it feel like she's pulling away? Smothering can be felt in the way they respond to you. Try not calling as much and see how she reacts when you do. Try a little reverse psychology on her.

POSSIBLY. Has she ever told you that you call/text her too much. My ex used to do that and I dumped him because it felt like he was trying to control me. She might take it the same way. Trust me, we like it when our man call to say "Hi" but a few times a day is really pushing it. It's borderline obsessive. She's the one who can answer your question the best. Ask her if she's feeling smothered and let her be honest.

Oh yeah, definitely. Back off totally and see if she wonders why? How would YOU feel if you got 20 messages or calls a day? It may be cute a t first but it would get old quick. Try to think of why you do it. Is it really, down deep, a trust issue.....?

If her arms are swinging around violently...then she's most likely feeling smothered..

It sounds like you are smoothering her. Cut back on the calls and IM's. You should also ask her if you are being too much.
