ok well i live with my mom (my parents are divorced siblings stayed w/dad) and we are moving to AR in a month and mom doesnt have a job lined up as we cant go down there early so she can go to interviews so my question is whats the cost of fostering an animal in AR do they pay for the pets needs? as i dont want to commit to another animal if im not sure my mom will have enough to support it and me and my kitten. Also will it be fine if i agree to foster and be the main caregiver im almost 14 and take care of my own kitten and am mature, as long as my moms there and also agrees to bring it home??any stories of fostering or anything like that would be appreciated! Thanx to every1 who answers

I looked into fostering because of a coworker at work does it, however i really dont recommend it if your looking for money. They only pay for the cost of food, basically they supply it...not really pay. And they supply vet care, they dont pay for it they have a vet who probably does it probono. You would have to be responable for any toys you purchase and any gas accured from bringing it to the vet or back to the shelter or organization. Pets cost alot, regardless if your fostering or not, its a worthwhile cause but its only for those in situtations that can afford to pick up a pet and give it care. They also at shelters and organiztions require recommendations from friends and family, probably a parental approval, and also an inspecition of the living enviroment where the pet would be staying, approval from any landlords, apartment managers etc...unless your mom is buying a house and then it would all have to be approved. Its alot of work.

The main reason i didnt follow through was it was because when i finially got the kittens my own cat- older cat didnt like the kittens and nearly hurt them. So if you already have a pet you must also take into their temperment with strange pets.

You'll have to contact the shelter and ask them directly. Most have different policies. Some will provide food, others won't. Most will provide vet care. However, if money is so tight that you can't provide food for a foster pet, you don't need to get one.

I don't think shelters would consider a 14 year old as a foster pet parent. Most foster pet parents are responsible for food etc.
