gas won't freeze in your car as it does not get cold enough for gas to freeze. water vapor that is in your fuel line or in the system is what freezes. cheap gas or excessive moisture in the system will lock it up and freeze it.

you can put chemicals into the tank to remove excessive water to remove this issue.

walk outside at 0 degrees and pour some gas out.....it won't freeze.

If you recall the commericals for "fuel line freeze up" I think by BP or Shell....all they were doing is putting in that chemical into their fuel to remove the moisture so in turn it would not freeze.

Gasoline does not freeze! Moisture in the gasoline freezes, use "Heat" or alcohol to disapate the water. The oil thickens. The battery needs some heat. The water in the radiator freezes, expands, and bursts hoses, etc. In order to prevent the water in the radiator from freezing, you need to use a good antifreeze. To keep the oil from thickening and the battery warm, you need to get an engine block heater. You will then be able to "plug in" your car on these cold night.
This should solve any problem you have with your car not starting in this cold weather.

i am a mechanic, gasoline will not freeze....it is a petroleum product and has an extremely LOW freezing point...damn near a flash point.

So.. to keep the water in your fuel tank from freezing...use "HEET" its an additive to keep the water out of your fuel tank...keep the gas cap on tight...and make sure there is no leaks in your fuel lines...thats the best thing in my humble opinion to do....if its that cold that your worring about your gas freezing....then i would consider a MOVE to a warmer area....like CA, or maybe Texas, Arizona....

but then you come across other problems like vapor lock...hehe

another question for another time

Gasoline does not freeze. Well, without additives it would at 97 degrees below zero actually. Water however will. And condensation leads to water. If you are having water freezing in your lines you can do a couple of things. Keep your tank as close to full as possible to cut down on condensation, and add dry gas or a similar additive to your fuel to keep the water suspended in the fuel so it can burn off. If you are using ethanol based fuel, it already is mixed with alcohol, which is what dry gas is.

If it's already frozen of course, dry gas won't help much, but being in a warm garage will.

I wish you well.

Keep the tank as full as you can, the fuller the better. Also dont use Heet, that is a waste of MONEY!!!! Find a product that has isopropol alcohol in it that is the best to get gas from freezing.

Regular gasoline won't freeze, but diesel fuel can gel up in cold weather. You can buy anti-gel additives from Motorcraft at your local auto supply store.

Keep the gas tank above 1/2 tank. Add Heet to the tank also helps. If they sell gas that has some alcohol in it in your area, you won't need to add the Heet. The alcohol in it does this job for you. We call this gas Gore gas in this area after the idiot Al Gore who made it mandatory to use it in my state.
