In my school, there is a multiple choice English language proficiency test which puts you in any of six levels-one is the lowest, six is the highest. It has 30 questions with 4 multiple-choice answers for each. If you get a score of '7' out of 30, you are placed in level two. What is the chance of getting a '7' if you just fill in the answers randomly? And of 100 students who filled it in randomly, how many could be expected to get a '7' or higher?

Usually, tests are designed in sucha a way that guessing will not yield enough correct answers to give you a qualifying score. Before a test is approved, it is evaluated for its reliability.
