i have a 51 corsa z12xe that needs a waterpump change now i've noticed a spring thats tenshions the belt and by the looks of it it's going to be a pig to get back on,im wondering if any body knows of a place for a compresing tool for that spring or some crafty way of refitting it.

Hi kev, the spring you talk about is part of the belt adjuster and obviously automatic in adjustment and can be easily un-tensioned you a suitable tool which fits into the backing plate of the tensioner, usually 3/8 or 8/10mm drive

The Timing belt is considered maintance. So it is not under warranty. $680 Canadian is an OK price. Since most front wheel drive cars have the timing belt and water pump close together it makes sense to do them at the same time. The Pump & Belt are not expensive. Getting to them is. The fan belts are fairly cheap and easy to do but since they are coming off any way replace them to.
