No, it is not necessary to go to university to become an artist. It is a natural ability that is God-given which can be utilized by you.

if you got it you got it .going to school does nothing except to give you short cuts and other peoples idies .i suppose going would help some one that is good but ant going to make you a artist only a better one

I know some really talented artists that have never ventured inside a uni - and yes they made it.

it appears that basically EVERY artist didnt need to go to university to do what they do.
i have a retarded 9 year old cousin who paints better than some of the 'artists' i have seen lately!
