in reality ive never actually met someone that was an open outward racist...im black and im not racist - i date interracially and like most of my friends are white, asian, hispanic because i go to a majority white school. anyway...

you are racist if.....

**you have a superiority complex towards any race - example - if you're white and you think blacks, hispanics, etc. are on a lower level than you are or "genetically inferior" and things of that sort
** you have hatred for certain racial groups; you hate a race based on the individuals and small groups of that race that have done something to make you upest or based on the biased media
**you make racial stereotypes like "blacks are all ignorant" "mexicans do nothing but jump over the border and have kids" or whatever other retarded things ppl say...or if you use the terms "you act white" (i hate when ppl tell me that lol)
mmk thats it....message me if u want ppl! l8ter loves!!

I was in graduate school in social work, and I started to realize how subtle stereotypes are and how they can influence our thinking without our even realizing it. When I was a kid, they had cartoons where animals would "act" according to the stereotypes of the time of blacks. I didn't even realize what was going on.

Media stereotypes can easily slip past our rational filters, especially when we're young, and then those images are there. Unless we become aware of them and see how ridiculous they are, they can influence our thinking. But I"ve also learned never to say "I'm not prejudiced," because some people think that means you DO have unexamined prejudice.

Frankly when I was in graduate school I found I had to ask some questions I considered stupid or ignorant. I think the only way to get over stereotypes is to be willing to confront them. I know blacks don't think it's their job to educate the ignorant among us, but I think we can only overcome our stereotypes by getting to know people and sometimes even asking a stupid question.

One experience I had recently was when I visited New Orleans. Somehow I expected some hostility or unfriendliness on the part of the African Americans. But all the people I met, regardless of race, were very friendly and willing chat with us, give us directions, share their experience with Katrina, whatever. So that left me wondering -- where did I get the stereotype that blacks aren't friendly with whites?

No I'm not racist. I hate the human race in general. I'm cool with individuals though. :)

Our nation exercises institutional racism every day. Affirmative action for instance, we have to maintain a balance of ethnicity. Job qualification comes second. And that's ALL races...not very fair if I was hired with no qualifications and a person of another background didn't and exceeded my qualification.

That's a pretty loaded question to say the least but it is valid.

racism is explained in psychology as ethnocentrism; favoring an in-group and disliking an out-group. in theory, everyone is racist, on a very subconscious and primitive level. personally, i think i am very tolerant, i have friend of many races and try to ignore stereotyping. i think that racism is no longer needed for survival and so should simply be phased out. an interesting point though, when you said " example - if you're white and you think blacks, Hispanics, etc. are on a lower level than you " - could it be that you yourself are not totally Innocent here :P

Yeah I am mostly to black people because they are loud rude and they stink. Asians the ones ive met are stuck up even the guys. White people are also stuck up. But I would never go to the lengths to beat someone up or kill anyone.

@ guapa, last I checked blacks can have light skin so maybe that's why her avatar is lighter. and I won't bother commenting on your other ignorant comments.

To answer the question, my fiance is Irish/Philippino and my close friends are of other races so I'm definitely not racist. I think God created us all equally so I don't really see a race when I look at someone. If I dislike someone it's because of their personality not because of their race, culture, religion ect.

I'm not racist. I have been treated as if I was by others, I think because Im white . Some automatically assume that your not going to accept them because of the color of their skin so they immediatly put you in this category. I dont judge anyone by what their anscestors have done, so do me the same favor.

that question is brilliant..first of all racist=stupid person
cause the one didn't choose his color, gender, sexuality, race
god created us every one with his special charactaristics that define us physicaly but it doesn't define us mintaly or in personality and this stuff we cant control or change.
charactaristics like generousity, kindness, being selfish,or ignorant are not the charactaristics of a specific race or color (its stupid to say that) and we can control this things in our self (ex.we can behave our self to be hard workers or lazy people).
so its stubid ti racist

No, I'm not racist, I like all kinds of races of people.
Well, I do hate the Ku Klux Klan, Hitler, and Andrew Jackson.
because these three people wanted to be racist.
