Castro's big boast is that "education is free for all in Cuba" and there is "Zero unemployment".
And he is right! The problem is that most people are employed to do nothing, wages are abysmal, and there is nothing to buy anyway. No one has any incentive to work properly, because it wont get you a raise or a better standard of living. Education is essential of course, but for most people, it does them no good whatsoever in terms of bettering themselves. It is a shining example of how Communism (remember the word is from 'community') does NOT work! Castro uses Capitalism, surreptitiously! It's called Varadero, where you go for your holiday or vacation. Lovely place, but it's not for Cubans, unless you work there! Castro was right to revolt and seize power, but then he proceeded to screw up, and has continued screwing up and screwing the lovely Cuban people ever since.
