What drugs are you speaking of? Illegal or medical?
Otherwise, Illegal drug users will tell you that the first few times of using a drug it was free, and then the addiction brings them to spend their own money on it.

Many drugs are expensive, but others give you more bang for the buck than alcohol if you just want to get as loaded as possible. Unless the user is a coke or heroin addict, the cost of drug use is usually around the cost of heavy drinking.

I assume you mean the non FDA approved stuff. It is for temporary bliss. It alters the chemicals in the brain to create a false environment in their head. Unfortunately the brain adapts to the substituted chemical and no longer produces it's own because of the overabundance floating around hence addiction.
Prescribed drugs well people just need them because they lack something chemical, relieve pain etc...

Please be more specific on the word "drugs".
If you are talking about recreational drugs, like alcohol, cocaine, heroin, crack and meth, it's because they have become addicted.
If you are talking about medicinal doctor-prescribed drugs, it's because they need it to maintain their health.

On illegal to escape reality and then to escape withdrawal. On prescription to reduce pain and for infection, healing, prevention and to achieve wellness. @8-)
