bobby j is right all the parts are different but i have done this swap several times it can be done but you must pay attention if one motor has an egr and the other does not you must use the original exhaust manifold off of your car,you must also drill out the egr port on the cylinder head use a 3/8" drill bit, drill where the egr valve mounts on the cylinder head towards the exhaust manifold then drill from the exhaust manifold towards the egr valve mount ,it's about 6 inches so 3 inches from both sides will do it's aluminum so should drill very easily, next compare knock sensors there are one wire and two wire sensors if they are different you must use the original one for your car, they have two different size bolts i use a brass adapter to screw into the block, then cut adapter off even with the block and screw smaller bolt into block, don't go too tight, nothing will leak out here and you don't want to strip out the brass adapter,in case your not sure this sensor right above the oil pan on the exhaust side of the motor, next is the intake manifold and fuel injectors this is simple ,just make sure to use new gaskets good luck

99 was a transition year for the engine, the early models were closer to the 1998 engine and the later were closer to the 2000. The ECU, knock sensor, fuel injectors, and EGR valve were the major changes from 1998 to 2000. So, Look under the hood for the EGR: if you have it then you'll need to swap the afore mentioned parts to the new engine, including the exhaust and intake manifolds. If you don't have an EGR, then the engine will swap right over with no mods.

yes one year doesn't change anything too much on motors. you may need to change some of the sensors from the 99 to the 2000 in order for the wiring to hook up properly.
