Marijuana is a drug and one can get addicted to it and can also lead to dangerous consequences. There are some drugs that people have taken and have caused them to do crazy things such as murders. There was one such incident in the news where someone was on drugs and killed another person. When you are on drugs, you can't think clearly sometimes and you may get really high and lose your mind and will cause you to do crazy things. But for tobacco, I think you won't lose your mind as much and for alcohol, if you drink too much, you just get drunk and can't do anything terrible anyways as you probably won't even be able to hold your balance when you are drunk. Also, one can also control one's intake of alcohol and a little alcohol has been found to be good for one's health.

Because the conservatives of this country believe it is their right to limit us from enjoying a natural herb. It is crazy. You are wrong there have been no marijuana related deaths. People are killed in gunfights, people have been high and had accidents and killed people. If it were legal the gun fights would end and our prisons would be less congested and it would save tax money. Not only that it could be taxed and bring in more revenue. The problem however is where do you draw the line. If you make it legal to smoke weed, people will it legal to smoke meth. You have to make a boundary. I think we should be able to smoke weed at home and in clubs, and then it should be illegal to drive like alcohol.

Back in (I believe) 1919 all Liquors were prohibited by law in the USA. It did not work for many reasons, one being it created a lot of criminal organizations who profited on the illegal manufacturing and sale of alcohol. Not unlike the drug problem today.
I believe society can't deal with the ill effects of alcohol. Legalizing drugs, like marijuana, would be next to impossible for government to control the manufacturing and sale of it. Besides marijuana is a gateway drug. If you legalize it, what next "crack cocaine"?

because there is more money in it when it is illegal. you could go to a store and buy a pack of marijuana cigaretts for just a couple of bucks ensted of a couple of hundred bucks, ''the black market.'' where i live alcohol is illegal. you have to drive to another state to even buy a can of beer legaly. so people ''boot leg'' and charge three to four times the price. it is all about politics and how much money they can make.

For some reason it is simply taboo in our culture. I agree that it's no worse than alcohol or tobacco. An even more baffling question is why is hemp banned. The cannabis grown for hemp products has very low THC levels and hemp is a very valuable cash crop for it's seed oil, fibers (for paper and cloth) etc. We live in a crazy, short-sighted, conservative world.

Didn't you see 'Reefer Madness'?? Just kidding. Stupid isn't it. The only thing I think of as an issue is - if you legalise marijuana then why can't you legalise cocaine or heroin. It's a slippery slope, where do you stop and what do you choose to regulate and tax and reap revenue from? Then you have those who believe in gateway drugs and that pot will eventually lead you to much more addictive substances.
