I am a English language learner thinking about going to the states and study there. I am having some level of difficulties writing well. I read everything I can( newsletter from NYT, washington post and the Economist), I write a journal, and read many classics novels such as Candide, to kill a mockingbird and many more. I am learning a lot of vocabulary, and I use it as often as possible so that I can retain it and use it properly. It is hard, and is a huge burden for me. It is a daunting task. I have a dream and I want to excel in life. I am facing dilemma everyday and I try to overcome it.

Try this site for starters. It's listed for kids & teens, but there are many sites for 'mature teens', which should be of help for anyone learning English. The sites are free and they include lots of 'tests' and games, quizzes, etc. to help improve your writing skills and grammar:

Also, reading newpapers and magazines is generally a better way to learn the language than novels, simply because you are exposed to a larger number of writing styles, and more varied vocabulary.

You sound like you're well on your way, though. Don't be so hard on yourself. Be proud!

Good luck,

Polly
