The post above me is right on, all except for his point that plugging in USB 1.1 devices into a USB 2.0 PCI card will force all devices on that card to slow down. Each port operates independently of one another. That shouldn't happen.

But he's right. You need to look for a USB 2.0 PCI card that specifically states in its specs that it works in Windows 98 SE. Only then do you have a shot. I'd look on eBay or http://www.pricewatch.com for a good deal.

Im not sure if it can be done on windows 98 but im asuming it can. Buy a usb 2.0 pci card (dont worry they are cheap) and put it in an empty pci slot and it should just work. Why you are still on windows 98 I don't know but you should upgrade to xp as soon as possiable unless you have a really bad spec pc

Because you are using USB already, I will assume that you are running Windows 98 SE.

You can ourchase a USB 2.0 PCI card that comes with Windows 98 drivers, such as the one in this link:

http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=107412

Not only will it give you USB 2.0, but it will also give you four external ports.

Remember to plug only USB 2.0 devices into the card, as plugging in an older USB 1.1 device will slow down all devices to the slower 1.1 speed. This applies to USB 1.1 hubs also.
