LITERALLY - when i was 12 years old, a friend of mine and i sat down at the kitchen table alone with a lighter. we were playing a game which was, who can keep the flame burning for the longest. i wasn't burned and neither was he but, because we were close to the lighter as it burned it release a great amount of lighter fluid in the air which gathered in our eyes. when i returned home my eyes were very puffy and almost swollen shut.
FIGURATIVELY - when i did get home and confessed the reasons for why my eyes were so puffy, I received the fiery wrath of my father. this time i did get burned ... my fanny was as red as flames when my father was through whipping me.

Literally: No, I never played with fire. I never even put my hand on a hot stove.
Figuratvily: I am always playing with fire from my boff. He is never satisfied. To him, everything is playing with fire.
