a triple double is when a single player has reached double digits (10 or over) in three of any one of these statistical catagories...points, rebounds, assists, steals or blocks, even more rare is a quadruple double which was first statistically logged by nate thurmond in 1974 he had 22 points 14 rebounds 13 assists and 12 blocks in a game , others probably had quads but this was when blocks were officially counted
