9.46053E+12 kilometers. I used the speed per second in the reference below and multiplied by 60 to get per minute, then 60 to get per hour, then 24 to get per day, then 365.2422 to get per year. It really would not make much difference where you start because if you travel across the surface of the earth you will circle the globe, many, many, many, many, many, many, etc.. times.

I think the distance light would travel in one year is about 5,878,625,371,567,200 miles. So I guess you would be that far from California.

Pardon me for posing a question first. What is a light-year? It is the distance light travels in one year.
Now knowing the speed of light it's simple arithmetic to calculate the distance
Speed of light = 2.998X10^8 m/sec
I year=365X24X60X60 secs
1 ly = 9.46X10^12 km/sec
If you are still using
miles, 1km=1/1.6 miles

9,500,000,000,000 kilometers
1 mile = 1.609344 kilometers
1 lightyear is approximatly 5903026326254.672711365625miles

earths diameter is about 7,926 miles
you would go around earth about 74476739 times

going around earth that many times is 5903026325214 miles
subtract that from the distance of a lightyear
you have 1040.673 miles
so anywhere that is 1040.673 miles from California can be said to be 1 lightyear away
