I don't believe it's marriage that does this, but applying jointly for credit.

Divorce doesn't take your spouse off your report or loans, so I doubt marriage puts them in your report.

It has to be a financial transaction that links the reports.

When I divorced, two years after it was final and she was still listed as my spouse, and it had her address as one of my addresses.

None of her accounts are in my report, but there was still information linking us together.

Credit reports list accounts, and if you have a joint account with your spouse it will be in both your reports.

I am in the finance business. Your credit will not combine unless you apply for a joint credit card, house etc... I hope this helps!

I dont believe so if it is what you have done before marriage and on your own credit... However if you and your husband has debts together then it does affect the both of you.

No you each have individual credit scores. PLEASE be sure to keep it that way. It's as simple as having your own major credit card, and paying it fully and promptly each month. Never abuse your credit. You'll never know when you may need it.

IF I were ever to make the stupid move to get married, I would never put my wifes name on anything I own.
