Just wondering how people put on a front if they are shy underneath. Is there any actual answer to it or is it a personal thing?

Thankyou for everything you've said. You probably don't realise just how much you've helped me but you have.

I was very shy during my childhood. I think the answer to shyness is just learning to be comfortable with who you are and gaining a strong sense of self-confidence. Just being sure of yourself and of your place in the world. Knowing that you have gifts and talents and personal worth to share and contribute.

Still, you also have to accept that some people are just naturally very outgoing and others are just more reserved. And that's totally ok. We're all different. Personally, I have no interest in always having to be the center of attention, but I also don't have a problem asserting myself when the need arises.

I would say just work on gaining some self-confidence and self-esteem. Once those two things are at a healthy level, your feelings of shyness will just fade away. Also, remember that most people aren't as together as they may seem. They may seem like they've got the world on a string, but they're just as unsure as you are.

IMHO...shyness is pure selfishness. The person is thinking only of themselves. I used to rather shy and still am, but I have learned that it makes other uncomfortable so I put forth the effort to be a bit outgoing. Many people that have met in recent years would never use the word shy to describe me. I am happier though as people talk way more with me now.

Yes, get really involved in something with other people. If you are interested and involved enough you'll suddenly discovery you've been chatting and making friends without realizing it.

I'm very shy around people I don't know, I have learned to force myself to be more outgoing. It's not always easy, but it has served me well.
