That is one of the major reasonings that people have given me when it comes to allowing warrantless searches. Is that true though? I'm not a criminal or a terrorist but I don't want any Government Agency to be able to search me without a warrant, it is not about hiding something but about having personal privacy.

No. Rare is the person who wants every moment of their life open to public inspection.

Besides, this turns the Constitution on it's head. You're supposed to be presumed innocent, you have the right to be free from unreasonable search. You shouldn't have to first prove that you're NOT a terrorist to be left alone.

In my opinion, people who believe you only have to worry if you have something to hide are deficient in their knowledge of history, the Constitution, and the law, or, have some agenda of their own that I can't understand as being anything other than a betrayal of fundamental American principles.

Our country is at war and that is what makes the difference right now. I do believe in personal privacy and I think we still have that in our own homes. It is at airports, bus, train stations and other public places that we have to be extra careful. If they need to search me or my belongings, it's fine with me. I'd rather know that I'll get where I'm going safely. A little inconvenience is a small price to pay for security in our country. Think about the men and women on the battlefield and what they are willing to give for our freedom. Makes you think that what we may be put through is minute in comparison.

I will admit that I do have problems with the warrantless searches thing. I think it sets a dangerous precedent although, I don't mind it right now. In the wrong hands, with this precedent as an example, we could all be subject to further violations of our rights.

I'm not saying it's being done now, but it could be done in the future.
