Clearly you are correct that through the centuries people have suffered. At the same time people have enjoyed the benefits of life beyond all expectations. Think of what has come about:

Something simple, the development and mass distribution of soap. To be clean, to destroy germs, to reduce disease, what a wonder.

To travel at you own desire. To move from one country to another, to move from one area within a country to another, to simply move down the street when you decide it is the right time to do so for whatever reason you decide it is right.

To simply change jobs because you want to do so.

The availability of energy at a decreasing cost to a greater and greater number of individuals.

At the farm where I was small we had no running water, wood burning heat, and I remember when the first telephone system was installed as a party telephone system and the comic’s Dick Tracy had the mobile communication system. Today you can take a mobile communication system anywhere in the world and talk with anyone else and do so with video, and access all types of data banks of nearly any information you want.

Might makes right. If the mighty deem folks worthy of being helped, those folks will be helped. If the mighty deem those folks unworthy, they will not be helped. Those in power make decisions that effect everyone else, and sometimes everyone in the world, depending how much might they have. It all boils down to might makes right.
