I tryed an ovulation kit this cycle, but never detected an LH surge. My husband and I had sex the day before I had marked may calandar for ovulation. But I never got the LH surge to tell me I ovulated. I am supposed to have my period today. I have noticed alot of opaque runny discharge. I have also been sensative to a couple of things smell wise that normally wouldn't bother me. I am not looking for to many signs as I don't want to be one of those that asumes the headache and breast tenderness is pregnancy every time. I also don't want to run out right now to get a test either. I would like to wait a week since my period so were so irregular, but I was currious if anyone had an opinion on my current state.

take the test. if you are late you are late. it will put your mind at ease. if negative, then wait to see if it comes next week. or just suck it up and get the blood test. that way you will know. good luck

Actually if you are pregnant then you SHOULD show a positive on an ovulation predictor kit. LH is molecularly almost identical hCG which is the pregnancy hormone. Ovulation Predictor Kits are not completely specific to LH and therefore will also pick up hCG if it is in your system. So if you are pregnant you should actually get a positive reading on your ovulation kit. However this is not completely accurate and therefore taking a pregnancy test is the best way to find out. There is a possibility that you did not ovulate this cycle and that is why you didn't have an LH surge. Sometimes factors such as stress etc. can prevent you from ovulating. This is most likely the reason you didn't see an LH surge. I hope this helps but if you want to read a little bit more about it go to www.peeonastick.com and go to Ovulation Predictor FAQ. Hope this helps, good luck!

You say you have irregular cycles, the ovulation is also irregular if it happens at all. The LH surge probably wasn't detected because you didn't ovulate--at least not when you think you did. You are right to wait a week before testing just in case you did ovulate much later than you think you did.

Different ovulation kits have different levels of sensitivity and not all of them work for all people. So it is absolutely possible you ovulated at or close to when you thought you did and it just didn't show up on the testing kit.

Hopefully are are pregnant, what you've described are definitely possible symptoms. And since your period is already due, you should get an accurate result from a home pregnancy test starting now.

However, if you are not, I recommend the Clear Blue Easy test kits (the individual kits, not the big expensive monitor). I have read they are the most accurate in several reports and they were also recommended to me by my doctor. And they worked - I got pregnant in 3 cycles at age 41.5!
