First off little lady
In order to do this job you will need to be trained in the same manner as any other paramedic---or emergency medical tech -- it would not be a bad idea to go ahead and get a Registered Nursing Degree because it would certainly stand to secure you for any eventuality career wise in the future !!
Then there will be the thing of meeting the requirements of the company that you would be applying to in the Air Medical Services field --- some of them have strict requirements as to the EXACT training of the people that they hire--- it is a job of intense responsibility and they have to make dang sure that the people doing that job are the best at it that they can possibly be !!

So, you're looking at somewhere around 3 to 5 years of medical training here and possibly some specialized Air Services training after that ( maybe as much as a year)

Hope this helps---and good luck with your "ambition" -- I hope it all works out for you --- it is an extremely honorable career to be wanting for yourself !!!

I think it's awesome that you want to become a flight paramedic.

First off, that's a very competitive job. A friend who works as a flight medic informed me that they get several hundred applications for every flight paramedic position available. You usually need several years of experience as a paramedic to even stand a chance of getting a flight medic job. Also, if you want to work on a helicopter, you need to meet certain height and weight requirements. The standards to work on a fixed wing aircraft are usually much less strict.

To become a flight paramedic, you need to be a paramedic first. The training to become a paramedic usually lasts a year (for the certificate) or two years (for the associate's degree). In addition to full time classes, you will be required to complete several hundred hours of clinical rotations at local hospitals, and at the end of class, complete an internship with a local ambulance company.

To be seen as a more competitive candidate for a flight medic job, you might want to consider becoming an RN. A lot of flight positions only hire RNs, or they will hire a combination of paramedics and RNs. Having both certifications will enable you to work either position.

Most flight medic jobs also require several years of experience as a paramedic working for a 911 service. It doesn't hurt to have advanced level certifications, such as Critical Care, or Advanced Trauma Life Support, or even to become an instructor of these classes.
