I had this problem when I was pregnant. My due date by my period was Jan 14th but the scans were saying Jan 21st. I was right in the end though and baby arrived 1wk early on the 8th. They then do little tests to see roughly how old the baby is. My advice is to always trust your period.

If the pain you're having is high up under your ribs then have a word with your midwife. But aches and pains are so very normal around this time coz you have a heavy little bundle growing inside you who wants to get out! I'm guessing this is your first baby but let me tell you, when you start getting contractions you'll know about it! Good Luck :0D

okay, I wouldnt worry... I would go by the ultrasound date, that measures all kind of info to make the date, along with the blood test results... If the doctor gave you a due date, go by that... he knows best by interpretting the tests you have had done... Pain in the side, is a pain in the side... It can happen when the baby drops and puts a little more strain on the tendents and muschles... Im sorry it will most likely only get worse... It could also be babies shoulder or elbow sticking in your side.. very uncomfy... If it concerns you and is a pain that really is bothering you, call you OB and see what they say... Every birthing expiriance is different, so just ask you doc what to really look for, they will be able to give you a simple but important list. Good luck!

U/S dating of a pregnancy is most accurate before the 10th week of pregnancy. After that, it's accuracy goes down to +/- 10 days. It's even worse after the 3rd trimester! I wouldn't necessarily go by you lmp date either though. Some women ovulate early (day 7 or so) and some women ovulate late (like me... day 23). This greatly affects your "due date".

The pain on your sides could be from stretching ligaments. Doesn't sound like your going into labor yet. Signs of labor vary, but you'll know it when it hits. You won't be getting on your computer asking "Is this labor?" You WILL know, and only when you absolutely can't take it anymore....you're close to giving birth. ;) (If you are birthing at a hospital and don't want to be messed with, stay at home as long as you can.) Most likely you'll loose your mucus plug and have some bloody show. You might experience loose bowels and throwing up. You could experience period type cramps or lower back pain that come frequently and continue to get stronger. (And by stronger I mean you stop, and focus all your engery to get through each contraction...or I like to call them expansions since your body is really expanding. This is true labor.) Your water might break before or during labor....then again, your baby could be born in the caul. You might exerperience nesting with a surge of energy before labor begins. Then again, you might need extra sleep right before labor begins. (I came home from church and took a 4 hour nap before my labor began.) I also want to point out, your due date is not an experation date. ;) It's a general guide line. I can't think of a woman who stayed pregnant.... Just let your body do it's work. It's nourished and cared for your baby for the past 9 months, it also knows when and how to go into labor on it's own. Most women who have an accurate due date should add 8 days to that due date. Most babies tend to be born around that time. If you are concerned, I would recommend biophysicals and non stress test being performed only AFTER 42 weeks. Before that time, you haven't given your body adequate time to go into labor on it's own. If you have a doula, make sure you call her and let her know what is going on. Have a great day and good luck!

due dates are all guess work. the baby comes when it is ready. I've had 2 kids. my first due date was October 14th. i didn't have her until December 6th. my 2nd was due December 1st, and i had him November 25th. (a little better) but still guess work. i went to hospital because i thought i was getting the flu. (kept running to the bathroom with cramps). that was labor pains.
