My 2 month old son has been constipated for a few weeks, but we discovered that he is lactose intolerant and resolved the constipation by changing his formula. Now he is afraid to poop...when he has the urge, he will clench his little cheeks together and hold it because he is afraid it will hurt again. Does anyone know how i can get him to relax and just let it out?

My pediatrician said to give our 2 month old daughter a little apple juice diluted with water... only about an ounce. Constipation was RESOLVED the following morning, and she enjoyed the taste. :)

I really don't think a 2-month would have the ability to associate the two events let alone have the muscle control necessary to be doing what you're saying. You need to see a peditrician. Constipation in a baby that young could be a blockage and needs to be relieved IMMEDIATELY.

Might still be constipated. Try giving him a couple ounces of water to loosen it up a bit. Do leg exercises with him, move his legs like he was riding a bicycle, it worked for my little girl. Good Luck.

umm...he's two months old and lacks the comprehension to "pinch it"....he's most likely still constipated and TRYING to push it out.

I know you're baby is smart, but if he had a comprehension like that, he needs to be getting studied by scientists and become the next and only 2 month old prodigy.

My nephew has problems with his bowel movements when he was younger and my sister had to take him to a pediatric gastrologist. they now have him on some medicine that makes his poop kinda runny, but it is 1000000 times better than it was before. he used to sit in the corner and scream everytime he had to go to the bathroom. they told her that he needs to be on this medicine until he is potty trained so that he will still try to push when he gets to go on his own. i would try talking to his pediatrician and see if he/she would recomend that you take him to a gastrologist to see if they can help. Oh and the medicine that my nephew is on is covered by their insurance...dont know if yours would be, but i know that it helps A LOT!!

you might just have to get him a infant laxative, I know it sound cruel but it can cause a lot of damage if he holds it in. I'd consult your doctor. If his tummy gets crampy you can always lay him is his back on your lap and gently massage his tummy
