My daughter is 2 months old and has started chewing on her fingers, leaving them swollen, and red. I've tried putting mitts on her but she somehow manages to pull them off. Is there anything else I can try?

you can try socks to put on her hands. also, theres clothes attached wit the mittens. its hard for them to pull them off. i gave my son some cold water, and that would help him. or put some cold water on the pacifier and she might take them. some babies grow teeth at 3 months. she can be teething. i give my son humphreys no. 3 in cherry. theyre teething pellets. it worked for my son. you can find that in walgreens, in the baby section. you can go to babycenter.com to find out more information that might help. good luck.

Even if she doesnt take the pacifier let her play with it she will probably chew on this rather than her fingers

All babies have their hands in their mouths, I know mine does all the time, I just keep taking them out and giving her the pacifier instead. Try putting socks on her hands, they are a bit longer and might stay on better. If it seems unnatural, then maybe ask the doctor whats going on.

Is your baby getting enough to eat? Often chewing on hands is a symptom of hunger, and a means for the baby to calm herself. If you are breastfeeding, it is a clear sign that she needs to nurse!
Mitts may help, but she is a bit young to hold a teether.

Give her a pacifier, a chewing toy, a damp washcloth

Her gums are just sore

She needs a teether, because her teeth are starting to grow, and it feels painful. So she tries to numb the pain bu chewing her fingers. You have to buy her a teether, you know those plastic little rings that are filled with water? Yeah, get her one of those.

Pacifier maybe?? Or a teething ring? Maybe her gums hurt - try some of that baby numbing gel. Poor girl, I hope she is okay.

it sounds like she may be starting to cut teeth give her teething toys or something else she can chew on, just make sure whats he gets a hold of does not have small pieces that could come off and her choke on

she's probably chewing because her gums are hurting her. try freezing a teething ring for her to chew on. the ice will be soothing to her little gums, and will have a numbing affect. those rings are freezable.

Try buying her a teether or a pacifier. This should help.
