I have very little to go on. I think the movie was british from the 60s just by the way it looked. Anyway this guy (maybe 40ish) picks up this young girl who I think was a hitchhiker and they go driving to his hometown. About the only specific clue I can provide is near the end him and her are in a car slowly following a marching band parading through the empty streets of his hometown, following the band as it makes it turns down one street and another. They are not in a parade (or band's practice) but just following the band for the fun of it.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?
