I'm not sure if it has anything to do with patriarchy but it clearly explores the ideology of karma and redemption. You should find plenty of info on that online - see wikipedia, Britannica online etc.
As for codes and conventions that is film theory and refers to how the writer sets up the story, uses humour, relationships etc. As a media studies student you should be more aware of this than the rest of us. I'd say the relationship between Earl and his dopey brother Randy is pretty central. Isn't that a standard comedy/dramatic convention? Like George and Lenny in "Of Mice and Men"?
You need to watch the show yourself and try to see what the writer is trying to make you think. It will be pretty obvious, it's not like you're dealing with Kafka here.
By the way, you can't get snippy about people misunderstanding your question if you use such terrible English!

haha - i think i know what you're talking about. i'm not sure if the other people answering this do!
do you mean like the ethical, moral and social views that each character takes within the show, or just the main character Earl? As far as partriarchal order goes, Earl is the benevolent father figure of the group, Randy, Joy(ce?) and the others act like his kids who he has to control without fracturing his own goals of being a 'better person'.
Hope this helps get you started a little!

That's my future surname! I didn't just take a fancy to the name and hunt down a man with that surname, I fell in love with the guy first and then hunted him down... It means like, I don't know, he did tell me once... the coat of arms has sea shells on it because it has something to do with the sea, and yeah, I'm not being very helpful am I...? Wait, I will return with knowledge!
Earl - Noble Saxon Chief (apparently)
