can I cut 3 feet from the top of an 8 foot rubber plant or must I layer it?

rubber plant has been layered many times over the last 40 years but it takes 12-18 months and is now touching the ceiling with no leaf drop.

yes, you can cut off the top it wont harm the plant.

Yes, cut off the top - and if you can probably plant it in soil to get a new plant.

Iwould layer it but than I can`t throwaway anything specially a plant
