Wow, I've got 9 turtles whose necks stretch and they can bite and they're not all the same type of turtle -nor- do they require the same foods.

Without seeing it or having a bit of an actual description no one in the world can tell you what kind of turtle you have. There are hundreds of different types of turtle in the world. Don't make us guess. Take it to a reputable reptile dealer and ask them what you have and what you need to take care of it. And buy a book on it too while you're at it.

Have you tried Wikipedia? You do have to be careful, since anybody can edit or contribute - but it is a good place to start.

Try searching Google or Yahoo images and see if any turtle pictures match your critter.

Contact a zoo or wildlife centre, or even a pet shop, and describe your turtle.

Go to the library and check out a book on turtles. Compare your little friend to the pictures.

Try the World of Turtles gallery at http://www.austisnturtlepage.com to help identify your turtle, then the care sheets there for the proper cares.

You can also post photos on-line to share and we will try.

While good pellets are OK for many water turtles, you need to figure out which kind you have to be able to offer it the best food.

Food depends on the kind of turtle. Many turtles also need special lighting and heating. If you dont provide these things, it will die. Post a picture.
