My wife and 4 kids (16 15 8 & 3) will be staying at the Radisson in town (govt / financial district). Need advice on where to eat, walk to, drive to and other points of interest nearby exclusive of the typical tourist stops. Also ideas on transporation options pros and cons. Thanks

Well....here goes!!! For diving....I recommend a day trip to Isla Mujures.....great family trip and diving is wonderful. Just ferry over and enjoy!!! The best shopping street in downtown Cancun is Avenue Tulum. Restaurants......wow......La Parillia, Tacoloyte, el tapitio, Pericos, La Habituala......too many to mention. All the restaurants downtown are good...food and entertainment wise. Transportation options....bus, rental car, or taxi. The bus is the cheapest mode of transportation.....65 cents per person. Taxi....you must be careful...some will rip you off. Car rental....if this is your first trip to Cancun....stay away from this. Driving is crazy and the car rental places will rip you off if you are not careful. You will want to take the kids to Margaritaville for dinner one night.....it is wonderful entertainment for the entire family. They have kids night one night of the week 4-7...for the smaller kids.....use to be Thursday night, but might have changed this month being it is spring break season right now. The jungle tour is fun for the family.....and there is a water park if that is of interest to you. I prefer the beach myself. The Radisson is a good clean hotel......I think you will be pleased. There is a carnival downtown that is fun for some night time activities. I usually go at least one time to ride the crazy mouse!!!! Carlos and Charlies is also a good family restaurant for some good entertainment. There is so much to do....I can't begin to tell you everything. I think I have given you the best choices, but there are many others available. Just make sure to grab a welcome packet at the airport for some good discount coupons. The Mayan Ruins is a good educational trip, but there are ruins that are free to view in various places in Cancun.....some up near Dreams Resort in the hotel zone. Make sure you spray for mosquitos if you do this.......the mosquitos there are horrible. Also keep in mind....Red Cross will not take blood from anyone who has visited the Maya Ruins.....at least that is what I was told. You will have a wonderful trip....Cancun is the best!!!!

Downtown sucks. many of the bars are on the major strip with assistance from the seashores besides. you may favor to envision your determination to bypass to Cancun in case you don't love seashores and swimming. i imagine you picked the incorrect position.
