I do in the sense that people with dark skin have to overcome prejudices in society, their often found hangups directly caused by these prejudices and have the ability to look in the mirror and still make it just fine regardless of negative opinion. You would think these people would buckle under the pressure of some people treating them as piss poorly as they do. They do not and this is why personally I admire them.
I think that in the near future more and more people will embrace people who don't look exactly like themselves and then things will get much easier and better for everyone. I don't know why exactly it has been an issue for people to accept someone who looks different than themself, maybe it's a defect in human nature.
Regarding what you said about over colouring-- I think many white people especially have a hangup with how dark some black people's skin are. I don't think it's as much of an issue with other physical features for them. I think they have a hard time accepting why their skin needs to be so dark and this is the physical attribute that stands out most as different for whites. I think for many people dark skin doesn't seem to serve a purpose at this given moment in time for the human race. To a point I think for some people it is seen as something primeval and unnecessary. Maybe with the very real effects of global warming coming in the very near future we should all thank our lucky stars that dark, melanin enriched skin is available. Just think: all great things often start out highly criticised, but when the purpose is revealed and obvious, people jump on it.
Btw, katie_orlando... a good example of an invention by an african american is the working filament for a light bulb. You know Edison invented it, but it only would last a few days until it was improved drastically by a black man. There are bunches of other inventions you could probably read about if you did a little research on the net. I'm not knocking you; you should just improve your thinking to a level that is more realistic. Were all in this together and it is our job to get along and enjoy each other.

Amik sounds like UR trying to start something negative here, but like the saying goes opinions are like a - -holes,every one has one.
As for the admiration part, I admire my parents and children, I give respect to all that deserve it no matter color, creed, religion, gender
sounds to me your spending too much time in front of a mirror..
p.s people are all beautiful, it is personality and the negative things they may say or do that may make them less than beautiful. Also if their color is their only + point to u than u are seriously a shallow person.Who is us?are u indian, asian,????
U seem to be a bit vain also..U asked the question, suck it up and read the responses :)

Hi Amik,
Well, I certainly admired Danny Glover, who was black, and asked a really good question on site, and had literally hundreds of replies. He truly seemed to care about child poverty.
( in world health section I believe)
I didn't admire him because he was black, we all have the same ability to ask questions and to care. It was the question he asked that drew me to him.
I know you mean what you say as a compliment, and surely we shouldn't take offence at that.
However, to say black people are more beautiful than us,
is wrong. To say that, you need to know who you are comparing, to who, black or white.
If a person is nice, that is good enough for me, whatever their colour.

I enjoy blacks. I was in a medical field and several times, ALL fellow workers agreed we would rather work with blacks than whites: and that is in South Africa !! They are more pleasant and patient. You cannot 'admire' someone just because of colour, any person has to earn admiration.Unfortunately as a white I am naturally deemed a racist.

I admire people for their abilities and person and not their colour or creed.
Do I apreciate the look of a person of ethnicity? Yes, I do. I like looking at people, any people, and seeing what makes them different to me and therefore special.
I love the way their hair curls while mine is straight, I think they are so fortunate to have white teeths with dark skin. I love the way Asian eyes have different shapes and I love slavic cheekbones. I love blonde hair and I love the look of red. I love white creamy skin and I dig dark skin too!
But ADMIRE? I admire deeds and intelligence.
I admire the Dalai Lama above all men and I admire Bob Dylan. I admire Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa, freedom fighters, environmentalists and pacifists.
Not sure I'd even give second thought about their ethnicity.
;-)
But I know what you mean- only people with darker skin look REALLY good with corn rows! And I do like corn rows!

I admire them only as much as I admire "white people" or "Asian people" or any other race. People should be judged only by their character and not by the color of their skin. Didn't Martin Luther King already make that point?

i think you chose the wrong words to use which is why you had such a backlash of opinion to your question,
i admire people of any race , culture or colour that inspire me.
some black people are very attractive just as some from any other background , race or nationality ,
to me , no one colour is best , they all have examples of beauty .

Sometimes in the fact that in places that are rough and violent african americans are usually the only ones that can go to these areas and be accepted, and taken seriously when they act tough/gangsta. And they are respected A LOT more nowadays then they were back in the day.

you should admire people on what they have achieved etc, not just because of their skin colour. There are beautiful people, ordinary people, ugly people etc in every race. Take your rose coloured specs off and see how stupid your statement is!
