yes actually a new born does. i learned that babies use 60% of their brains while Adults use only 16 or 17% and even genius's use only 19 to 20%. Interesting huh? i think that if u really think about it, it is true because babies copy everything they see grown ups do. they are like monitors their memory banks fill up with what they see and they copy it that's how they learn. the coolest thing is that they can filter it too. like they know what is waste and what is to keep.
hope that helps!

As in all living beings,so in new born babies there is a standard behavioural pattern programmed, but unlike all the other animals, our patterns consist only of fundamental functions and responses.
This is done in order to achieve the most precise adaptation to the environment we're about to grow in.This is the reason why we have such a long childhood,if we were born knowing what we have to do in order to survive, there wouldn't be enough space for development.
Consider it as an open source experimental software, designed to alter in every enviromental change!

First off, babies are human beings, not computers. They are, however, smarter than a lot of people think they are. They know their mothers, recognize voices, and know where to find food. They have the basic personality patterns they have inherited from their parents, but will absorb many things. A baby's mind is like jell-o. Put the goodies in before it sets up fully. You can't build children like robots, but you can teach them (like the people they are).

a baby is born with instincts, like sucking, grasping, the startle reflex, etc, but I would call that hardwired. the software is installed later by cultural and familial exposure and learning.

Huh? A newborn baby is not a computer, so no, there will be no software in its brain.
