I'm not sure if you are asking for the culture of where I live or where my ancestors are from, but I'll give this a try.
I live in Maine, not on the coast but in the western woods. There are many saphouses nearby that produce maple syrup. I would probably cook balsamic-maple salmon for the guest.

i wud cook ...masor tenga( fish sour curry), kharr (a papaya dish cooked wid fish and home made banana soda) these are typical of Assamese dish. (from North East India)

im italian and from rome, i would make something italian related pasta or my moms famous dish which is a pasta with pesto and black olives...its really great
