There's this fancy schmany scale in the lab I work at, and it can measure weights from 0.00001 grams up to 50 lbs. That's a huge range for such a small scale. However, to use it, you need to turn this pointless little light on the back off. The light shines down onto the counter. What's the point of that? Nobody works in a lab without lights anyway, so it's pointless to put a light on a scale in the first place; and why is it there if it can't be on while you use it? So I guess the light would the most pointless invention I know of. Well, the light on this scale anyway.
