I prefer pets who rummage through the undergrowth and steal hubcaps.

It is raccoons who steal hubcaps- they are shiny (I don't know why they like shiny objects, but every one I worked with at the zoo would ferociously defend shiny objects).
Badgers are pretty nasty though- would be more like an untrainable bull dog than a cat.

Thats raccoons or monkeys, not badgers. Badgers wander around being grumpy.
