2 days ago i stabbed myself accidently with a razor utility knife. I dont think it went in very deep. I'm curios to know whether it is from striking a nerve or would striking a tendon give the numbing feeling. there is no more bleeding, can i assume that feeling will return without medical attention. I cant really afford to the medical care at the moment. thanks

For an injury like that and with no insurance, a trip to the ER at the Hospital would have been in order as soon as the injury occurred. Now it is not too late to call the nurse at the Emergency Room at the Hospital and ask the same question you are asking here, and see what he/she will direct you to do.

If you accidentally cut a nerve, then you could have a numb feeling there. Sometimes during the healing process, areas around the injured part feel numb as well.

I would say go speak to your family doctor, you don't have to go to the hospital, or go to a clinic. But if it didn't go too deep than it should be ok. If the finger and the wound is healing properly it should be fine.

Look up the websites: The Hand Surgery Center, and Grey's Anatomy, they will help you understand more.

You should go to a clinic and have it checked.
You could have damaged a nerve.
They may need to give you a tetanus shot too.
You need to take care of this immediately.

sounds like you have damaged a nerve, if that is the case you may never get the feeling back completly.
