FIFA World Cup is by far the biggest sporting event on the planet; only the Olympics can really rival it.
But since you asked strongest, I'll go with the UEFA Champions League as you have the world's top clubs who have the worlds best players.
The World Cup has teams who are from the same country; meanwhile, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona can get the best players from around the world
However I love the festivities and passion of the world cup more.

Definitely FIFA World Cup when it comes around. But in regards to seasonal leagues, probably the English Premiership, although the Champions League also gets lots of hype too.
