MP3 files are the correct format to burn on a CD, so no conversion is necessary. To burn a CD, put a blank CD in your CD Burner and open Windows Media Player. Click on the "Burn" tab at the top, and drag and drop the MP3s into the list. Then hit "Start Burn" and you'll have a CD in no time.

You can already burn MP3 files onto a CD. If you can't, your burning software is really bad, and in that case, you need new burning software, like Roxio or Nero, or maybe even PowerISO (not sure if it can burn CDs without converting the files to a .daa format though). But anyway, Google some new burning software only if the one you are using can't burn MP3 files on an Audio CD.

You can convert MP3 files onto your normal CD-R by using your existing Windows Media Player by burning it.You can also convert it to WMA file but the drawback is that you can only burn approx 22 songs depending on the songs' play time. In MP3 format, you can save many songs, more than a hundred in just one CD-R. One software that can also burn MP3 files is the Nero Software. And it has many features that are not introduced in Windows Media Player. If your car's cd player can play MP3 files then you can burn it to MP3 otherwise you will save it to other formats like WMA.

MP3 can be played by most players nowerdays. If you want a music CD then having a burning application like Ashampoo or Nero will give you an option for easy music CD creation that can be played on most music systems, they will also convert the audio files to the proper format.

Just use Nero to burn an Audio CD and add your MP3 files, it will automatically convert them to CDA tracks and burn them so they can be played on any CD player even if it does not support MP3 (which is rare these days!).

I'd recommend iTunes for ease of use, you can download it for free if you haven't got it already (see link below). You import the files into iTunes and then make a playlist with the selected songs you wish to burn to a CD. When in that playlist and a blank CD is in your drive there will be a burn CD button on the right of iTunes press it and iTunes will do the rest...

This is to create an audio CD only.

You usually don't need to convert mp3s as mp3 is the main type of file. If you are using iTunes, Windows Media Player or a similar program it should work fine.
