* I believe the natural causes are behind the global warming, as by watching some programs nowadays transmitted on UKTV history channel, showing :-
1- That the temperature of the sun is increasing, which leads to the earth receiving more heat than before, leading to its warming.
2- The earth was passing through different ages (ice age, water age) & the natural changes still continuing to occur.
* so not the fumes from my , your car & the air flight, which I have to pay £40 (increase in tax/UK), as by paying that will not sort the matter out!
* man made CO2 might come by chance of the existing natural warming (the timing of it).
* But man made CO2 consists an easy excuse for the governments to rob their citizens! What a shame.

Well, I believe there is no real proof that man has made global warming happen. It is happening because we are in a circle of weather that changes on a regular basis.
Politicians are to blame for all this global warming caused by humans nonsense. It gives voters something to distract them from the real issues and gives them a huge opportunity to tax the living daylights out of us while appearing to be doing it for our benefits.
Also, the so called proof that we are the cause of this weather change is rubbish. They could not possibly tell us the truth about it now as it would show them up to be scaremongering idiots and money grabbing liars.
Remember rabies? It was going to come down the tunnel and kill us all? So how many people in France and the rest of europe has it claimed?? We were told by experts we were all going to die..
Just like in the 70's they were on about global cooling, it's all a load of B*ll*cks.. scuse my language

The CO2 that mankind is setting free within a few hundred years by burning coal, oil and gas has been accumulated by nature over a period that lasted millions of years. Coal, gas and oil were once trees that produced a lot of O2 during their lifetimes in such a long period, and burning them now in a short period uses the same amount of O2. The amount of CO2 changed into O2 then and the amount of O2 changed into CO2 now are, per year, totally out of balance.
Changes in climate in earlier ages have never been so quickly as we observe them nowadays.
These facts should prove you that mankind is responsible for global warming.
If you pay your £40, that will not sort the matter out, that's right. But if flying becomes too expensive for you and other people, there will be less flights, and that's a start to sort the matter out.
As for governments robbing their citizens: the Swiss government plans a tax on all products that emit CO2. Those who use more pay more. But this tax will not be for the government. They will pay it back equally to each citizen, so those who don't use the car too often and have a well insulated house which doesn't need much heating will get back more than they have paid.

The earth is currently coming out of an ice age but this in no way accounts for the massive acceleration of global temperatures over the last century.
I personally believe that this is due to mankind's influence. While one cannot discount the amont of CO2 being pumped into the atmousphere I feel the biggest contributing fator is the ever increasing deforestation of the rainforests. This is destroying the planets natural carbon sink and drastically lowering the environments ability to cope with the increase in CO2 from industry.
Just my 2 cents

Suigy G gave most of the correct answers, It is my opinion that the event will happen, but when men are as capable of matching nature it would be a different answer. If you take the cataclysmal eruptions the world has experienced in the past you will find that one big bang from some volcanoes have but more pollution into the atmosphere in a few minutes That man can do in many years ie. when whole islands have been blown away global warming has happened before mankind was around. and even if man was responsible, it is still the process of evolution.

This was explained in depth, on South Park, just three nights ago.
Too many people were farting, releasing way too much methane gas into the atmosphere. This resulted in an acceleration of the Earths green house effect. The problem turned out to be a very though nut to crack, because, as we all know, holding in farts, results in spontaneous human combustion. Luckily for us, research has shown, that farting in moderation, put way less strain on the environment and still allows adequate control over spontaneous combustion. So it seems obvious that if the Earth is warming too fast, then to many people are not doing there part and are still farting way too much.

The reason behind global warming is quite primitive in it's nature, pollution has increased drastically in the last few decades which results in damage the ozone layer which is the protective layer around the earth that protects us from the sun. The temperature of the sun isn't increasing, the ozone layer is decreasing which causes the earth to receive more heat.

UKTV History did not explain this!
It showed a picture of the graph showing the Earth's temperature with the natural variation and the human impact superimposed. The latter graph was almost a perfect replica of the original one.

I learnt in class that it was the earth passing through different ages.
In Doctor Who the sun exploded! :D But that was set like 50 million years into the future.
