I went to portaventura last easter and although it wasn't all that warm still had a brilliant time as they kept the park open until midnight over the easter weekend and had fireworks etc. Regarding hotels - I think it depends on when you go; if your going in the summer then the Caribean one (i forget their names) would be great, but it is about a ten minute walk to the park along with the mexican style hotel. I stayed in the original hotel (Hotel Portaventura) which has its own private entrance to the park and makes it very convinient to pop back if you get fed up with the queues. All hotels have themed restaurants but ifound the buffets ( we were on half board) perfectly fine, with a good choice of food. Hope this helps - by the way the condor ride that drops you 75feet in about 2 seconds is awesome!

We stayed at the Arizona in Solou. The resort is close to Reus Airport and the theme park. The food in all the restaurants and hotels is much of a muchness. It's continental based and Solou attracts a lot of Dutch holidaymakers who travel by huge coaches. The beach is enormous and very clean. The promenade is great for an evening stroll. Liked the resort a lot, have been there twice.
A top tip is to check out www.tripadvisor.com, it is a site where real people post their views and ideas about hotels and resorts. I have always found it very helpful. Mrs Spartacus hasn't complained about a hotel, yet.
