A person's environment, sociocultural, sociopolitical, and socioeconomical factors contribute to what he/ she is exposed to and has access to. The culture of one's family is the greatest contributing factor of successful language learning. Childern who are raised by people who speak broken English, will speak broken English. Those children will enter the school system behind those who grew up in homes where proper English is spoken. If eduation is not highly valued in the home, those children will never grow into successful language learners, because the education received at school is not reinforced in the home. Also, people who are grow up in poverty will most likely not experience trips to the local museum or family vacations that someone in the suburbs will because of a financial disadvantage. The result is a limited vocabulary because of a lack of cultural experiences.
