"Cracker" doesn't have the hisory that the "n" word does. It doesn't pack anywhere NEAR the emotiional power punch. Having said that, it's also wrong to use it obviously.

I think the cracker word is more offensive. Most white people would take offense to being called a cracker, even by another white person. But the Neggar can be used non-offensively in the correct context.

Cracker was a term used by the slaves to depict the guy cracking the whip on them if they didn't do there work fast enough. Actually, it's almost a compliment if you think about it. At least that is what was said on the "bob and tom" radio show. ha.... The cracker was a paid free man, and the slaves were not free but owned. Maybe that is the difference?

Cracker is offensive but most whites take it with a grain of salt,and go about daily life.
Several good answers but cracker also refered to the leftover breads after baking,these were called crackers as they were cracked off the baked bread loafs.Thes scaps were given to lhe lower class whites thus they were called crackers.

Because of the double standard in America. Just like African-Americans you are Americans. if not I want to be called Euro-American. Could you imagine the uproar if there was a White History Month? A White Entertainment Channel?

Niger, cracker, spick, chink, etc....all just words to me. People allow these words to be offensive....just words to me. LOL
I never owned a slave, nobody alive today was legally a slave, I never bashed a "******" nor gave Asians any reason to be pissed at me. And YES we all need to GET ALONG! anything else is simply juvenile!
