from my sister, it is still under contratct with Cingular, she wants to give it to me, and it's a great phone; LG 500CU. However she has a whopping cell phone bill and am wondering if I can somehow bypass the contract and go to Wal Mart and purchase a pay as you go card with Cingular, or just cough out a lung and pay the cell bill and attain her contract?

Get another SIM card from Cingular and stick that in.

well if i'm understanding this right, i'm not sure becuase it has to be a pay as you go PHONE. I don't know if your sister is also giving you the contract, i'm guessing she is, but she should pay the bill herself and THEN give it to you.

You could just put another SIM card in it. That will work.
