Do you believe in Phil? Are groundhogs believable?
Punxsutawney Phil's official forecast as read 2/2/07 at 7:28 a.m. at Gobbler's Knob:
El Nino has caused high winds, heavy snow, ice and freezing temperatures in the west.
Here in the East with much mild winter weather we have been blessed.
Global warming has caused a great debate.
This mild winter makes it seem just great.
On this Groundhog Day we think of one thing.
Will we have winter or will we have spring?
On Gobbler's Knob I see no shadow today.
I predict that early spring is on the way.

Are you as cold as I am right now?

Phil has a 50/50 chance of being right but according to the statistics he has been right over 60% of the time. So I'm going with an early spring because I can't type with these gloves on.

It's just for fun. Groundhogs cannot really predict the end of winter. The winter solstice does not end until 6 weeks after groundhogs day whether Punxsutawney Phil likes it or not. It has nothing to do with the weather anyway. We may end up warmer over the next 6 weeks but it will still be considered winter. They will just say that we are having spring like weather. However, being only the middle of winter now and it being 10 degrees outside not including the windchill factor I'd say I will welcome an early spring. Bring it on!!!!

This winter has been not so winter like until Mid Jan. He has not seen his shadow since 1999 and a few years after that 97-98 was an el nino year. Since this was a little elnino I think it is no coincidence between elnino and old phil. Spring and summer not so sure about that to guess about them wx wise. Think about it.
